This was the first music video I saw in Korea. It’s by Lee Hyori, who is 30 years old, and currently seems to be idealized as the sexiest woman in Korea. My favourite aspects of the video are the challenges associated with the pronunciation of the word “girl”, and the odd positive messages about plastic surgery… which will undoubtedly help another generation of Korean girls feel self-conscious and inadequate. You Go Girl. You go get that nose job. Not to mention the flashing “Hyorish” sign that sneaks in at the 3:00 mark – at least they’re honest.
